on Route 2020 with some new exciting goals & much appreciation to its corporate sponsors! We’re teaming up with a fine set of musicians from both the west & east sides of Toronto! We’re mounting a ‘festival’ set list…’in case….’ & we do hope that Halton JAZZ Singers are selected to SING & shine ON Toronto time…’ we’re ready!”… we really are ready!…We have needed the past seven years to ‘cut our stuff’… slowly, enjoyably, & methodically! We’ve sung with instrumental trios, little big bands, big swing bands & professionally produced instrumental backing tracks – just goes to show our versatility & flexibility.
Next show is in TORONTO, SUNDAY MARCH 8TH 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at The Relish Bar & Grill, 511 Danforth Avenue. MARCH 8TH, 2020 TICKET INFORMATION
We’ve had your typical ‘life gets in the way issues these past 6 months but all 3 of us in Halton JAZZ Singers Trio (Siona, Jason & Darcea) are back ‘on our feet’ in all ways so we decided to head into Toronto to check out & participate in the vocalists open mic event which is held weekly – usually at the 120 Diner at 120 Church Street; once a month it’s held at the JAZZ BISTRO on Victoria Street – both locations in downtown Toronto. It was a great event – Since we now have our own charts we took the one for “Take Five” with us & hit the stage with their piano man, & bass player. Lisa Particelli runs the show smooth as velvet. Our sound was LOVED!
But THE BIG EVENT is that WE ARE THE OPENING ACT FOR JUNO AWARD WINNER, Liberty Silver…that’s coming up soon on Saturday May 25th, a black tie fundraiser gala in it’s 21st year, sponsored by the ASSOCIATION OF BLACK LAW ENFORCERS at Burlington Convention Center MAIN HALL with over 600 paying guests in attendance for the cocktail hour and sit down dinner…
We are grateful to our returning sponsors – OS&B, Dr. Plewik and others, and we hope to rally additional financial support in the coming months!
As always Halton JAZZ Singers are available to entertain with backing tracks or with our live jazz trio. Our price range is fair & flexible so keep us in mind for your upcoming events…
If you know of a local event in your ‘hood’ please refer us – we’ve got all the ‘tools’ to make it happen, with YOUR help!
There’s a lovely, community space in Campbelleville (Guelph Line & 401), just waiting to have our sound fill it – It’s a lovely community, Campbelleville; Halton JAZZ Singers aka HJS has HJB instrumental jazz trio, of Heiki on piano, James on drums, and Brent on string bass – there’s six of us now – HJS+HJB JAZZ Sextet! We need a home so that YOU can come to visit & SWING with us! So.. that’s what last night was all about… We packed up all our gear and headed into Halton, to St. David’s Presbyterian Church, 130 Main Street N., Milton, Ontario. WOW! THE ACOUSTICS ARE AMAZING! The congregation kindly granted us the use of the space to try it out for a couple hours last nite, & try it out we did! It’s a great space! Lots of parking; quick access to the 401; it’s in a growing part of Halton close to Milton, Burlington, Georgetown & Oakville as well as Mississauga; and those of us in the other parts will find it to be an easy drive!
So the jazzy dudes, Heiki, James & Brent brought their A-1 game and supported Halton JAZZ Singers in our renditions of ballads, sambas, swing pieces – What a blast!
In time, there could be some open rehearsals happening at this locale – there could be some open mic sessions too at this locale and maybe some master classes!
Interested? Would YOU come to an open rehearsal? Would YOU like to try your hand/voice at singing with HJB jazz trio? or Would you like totry your ‘voice’ & join in and sing one of your favourite tunes – Dream, Java Jive, Danco Samba, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore or other tunes – a vocal jazz quartet chart with HJS – Siona on alto, Darcea on soprano, Jason on Tenor & Adam on Bass?
What do YOU think? Interested? Give us YOUR ANSWER by completing the POLL BELOW – We’ve got ‘our home’ booked for 7:30-9:30 P.M. MONDAY, OCTOBER 30TH – WANNA JOIN US?
