MAY HJS is movin’ forward!

We’ve had your typical ‘life gets in the way issues these past 6 months but all 3 of us in Halton JAZZ Singers Trio (Siona, Jason & Darcea) are back ‘on our feet’ in all ways so we decided to head into Toronto to check out & participate in the vocalists open mic event which is held weekly – usually at the 120 Diner at 120 Church Street; once a month it’s held at the JAZZ BISTRO on Victoria Street – both locations in downtown Toronto.  It was a great event – Since we now have our own charts we took the one for “Take Five” with us & hit the stage with their piano man, & bass player.  Lisa Particelli runs the show smooth as velvet.  Our sound was LOVED!

But THE BIG EVENT is that WE ARE THE OPENING ACT FOR JUNO AWARD WINNER, Liberty Silver…that’s coming up soon on Saturday May 25th, a black tie fundraiser gala in it’s 21st year, sponsored by the ASSOCIATION OF BLACK LAW ENFORCERS at Burlington Convention Center MAIN HALL with over 600 paying guests in attendance for the cocktail hour and sit down dinner…

We are grateful to our returning sponsors – OS&B, Dr. Plewik and others, and we hope to rally additional financial support in the coming months!

As always Halton JAZZ Singers are available to entertain with backing tracks or with our live jazz trio.  Our price range is fair & flexible so keep us in mind for your upcoming events…

If you know of a local event in your ‘hood’ please refer us – we’ve got all the ‘tools’ to make it happen, with YOUR help!

HJSTRIO …2018…a look back…OH WHAT A YEAR!

To Our Corporate Sponsors:

A HUGE Thank you to our sponsors for 2017-18:

Unquestionable fact: The projects that HJSTRIO took on in 2018: i) pro bono community shows in Oakville e.g., at Bronte Legion as the Opening Act for Paulie & the Goodfellas!

ii) HJS commissioned GARY MARTIN COMPOSING & ARRANGING – Thanks to corporate sponsorship funding, HJS had the funds to hire Gary to arrange 8 songs for vocal jazz trio & 9 piece little big band – WHOA! Now that’s a whack of dollars!

iii) Joint rehearsals & 2 ninety minute shows, “Harlem Hits & Southern Swing!” (Bronte Legion on July 8th & Burlington Central Park, July 18th) with the AMAZING SWINGLINE little big band & in particular the co-operation from manager Urmas Soomet!

iv) HJS now has access to 2 affordable, committed & competent sound technicians who know & care about getting OUR SOUND RIGHT! Ryan & Eric, two sound experts – these fellas deserve mentioning here – a) Ryan Miller (son of tenor, Jason Miller) has the qualifications, gear, & expert keen ear & familial ties too! Ryan has consistently delivered quality sound for HJS in some tight & challenging situations – Thank-you Ryan

Eric Bower Audio Services… It’s so heartwarming to hear from an independent audio expert, “I really like your sound!”  That’s what Eric tells us! Then is able to demonstrate it by his mastering of our sound output:  Finally, we have found an independent community minded sound technician who thinks quality output ahead of  ‘fees’ – ERIC WANTS & IS ABLE to match HJS in his own audio expertise delivery! Thank YOU Eric!

HJS’s Instrumental Combo IS IN DEMAND!

Need an instrumental combo – well, HJS HAS it’s own trio or quartet depending on YOUR budget – Brent (bass), Heiki or Rob (keyboard), Gary (sax/clarinet), Vince or James (drums) – these guys have gelled like jello! They are out & about on demand for cocktail hour & mix & mingle pre-dinner events…keep them in mind! Pictured are Heiki, Gary & Brent – it’s their 2nd time hired by “HABITAT FOR HUMANITY – VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION EVENT @ Oakville Executive Banquet Center – Speers Road, Oakville.

As if that wasn’t enough… we broke into the Toronto scene with our sound…
